Measuring a TV seems simple but it’s actually trickier than it seems. Let us see how to choose a perfect way to measure TV and which is the right size to buy. When you see a TV size in any TV shop or online the size there mentioned is from one corner to another corner of the TV screen.

How to measure a TV without a measuring tape?

There are a variety of ways to measure anything without tape. All you need is an object with consistent length. So, let’s start with something you already have which is yourself. The only condition is that you should know the measurement of that particular thing beforehand.

How do you measure a flat-screen TV?

To measure your TV screen size, you should measure it from one corner of the TV screen to another corner. So, grab your measuring tape and measure the TV screen diagonally to get the accurate TV size.

Why are TVs measured on the diagonal?

The reason TVs are measured diagonally is that only one measurement is needed to get an understanding of TV size.

If you measure it vertically one may also need to measure horizontally to get a perfect idea about the TV measurement.

Initially, a cathode ray tube was used in TV which had a round shape therefore its diameter was used to define the size of a television.

Why are TVs still measured in inches?

An inch is 2.54 centimetres. So, measuring Tv screen size in centimetres will not give the flexibility of precise measurement. Therefore, screen size measured in inches is preferred over any other measurement.
